Península Valdés and San Lorenzo Sheeping Station, Land of Penguins

Argentina Visión’s Ecoadventure and Intrepretation Department has designed a management unity plan for this private reserve and it is them who take every passenger to the penguin rockery and to the fossils glen The station can be visited from September to April either by means of Argentina Visión’s tours or in a private way. The Argentina Visión`s private tour sets out very early in the morning from Puerto Madryn and goes around the whole of the Península Valdés. The trip includes a visit to Puerto Pirámide to do the whale-watching, to Caleta Valdés to see sea –elephants, to Punta Norte reserve where we might see wild orcas, to San Lorenzo Sheeping Station, which is “the land of penguins”and, finally, (if passengers want to) we get to Punta Delgada on the other extreme of Península Valdés, the only place where it is allowed to go down to the beach and do trekking near the sea-elephants. We return to Puerto Madryn at sunset.

Cerro Avanzado on 4WD

Since Cerro Avanzado is located within Puerto Madryn`s sorroundings, this adventure tour stars right at the door of the hotel. We set out on 4-WD vehicles to interpret the Patagonic desert by doing short walks and by watching flora and fossils. Then we drive towards the coast along medium difficulty roads so the interpretation goes hand-in-hand with moments filled with adrenaline. Finally, we get to Cerro Avanzado to see fossils there as well. We go up the highest point of the coast and then we go down again driving along the magnificent landscape of Punta Loma coast.
An excellent, optional choice included in this tour is to stop and have lunch on San Guillermo farm. Here you get the typical country food such as salad,chicken and the skewer barbecue lamb. The owner of the farm and his employees welcome the group with mate and “torta fritas” (a typical Argentine fried pastry ) and invite them to participate in the shearing show. If the group agrees to stay for the lunch, they also have the possibility of taking part in every activity organized on the farm.

Punta Ninfas on 4WD

Punta Ninfas is one of the points that form the entrance to Golfo Nuevo.
It is sistuated at about 90 Kms Southwest from the city of Puerto Madryn and it is one of the most amazing viewpoints in the area, since from that point you can see where the gulf waters flow into the sea, as well as the effect tides have in going in and out the gulf and the Península Valdés in its nearest point (Morro Nuevo) and the immensity of the Argentine Sea.
We go around the El Pedral beaches on our 4-WD and have a long interpretative walk of sea fossils.On arriving at Punta Ninfas,we will see the lighthouse,the beaches and on the whale season,mothers and calves coming in and going out of the gulf.…
The beaches of Punta Ninfas get filled with hundreds of sea-elephants from September to December,their breeding season,and from January to April,their moulting season.
The tour requieres an excellent health condition,no vertigo and neither respiratory nor heart condition.
This tour has two main strong points: exclusiveness and loneliness. We go back throughout the same road up to Puerto Madryn.

"El Doradillo" Beach (Traditional Tour or on 4WD)

Every season “El Doradillo” area is visisted by a group of mother whales and their offprings.
Because of the quietness and the unusual depth of its water ,the whales get very near the coast and it is possible to watch them(95% of feasibility) at 20 or 30 metres from the coast itself.This type of whale-watching is ideal to complement the traditional one on a boat and a good option for those who are not keen on sailing.
Argentina Vision offers regular and special excursions to El Doradillo area. It can be an adventure activity if special vehicles are hired thus getting to the lonely beaches La Cantera and Punta Ameghino. The time to visit the area is subject to the high tide when the whales get near the coast.
